Can anyone recommend a good traffic Lawyer? I got a reckless driving charge in Durham a few months ago, and now the court date is swiftly approaching.

PJC (prayer for judgment continued) isn't always your best or only option. Most people seem to think it is. But because judgment is continued, your ticket can be brought back if you violate certain terms, which might include getting another ticket in the next 3 years. Just like the other posts said, contact an attorney to see if you're eligible for a reduction if you complete a driving school safety course. The elected District Attorney of each county is the one who sets guidelines for traffic ticket reductions, so even Wake and Durham are different. An attorney in that area will know exactly what you're eligible for. Check out Avvo.com for a listing. The ratings are kind of rigged, so don't base your decision solely on that. Also since you people on reddit assume everyone is full of it, I kind of know what i'm talking about, worked in traffic court in Forsyth for 3 1/2 years, and at a private law firm the last 2.

My firm handles cases like that. We can hook it up for a fellow redditor. As for the PJC, that will depend largely on the facts and your driving record. I can't say at this point. That said, Durham is an easier place to deal than Wake on traffic stuff. Orange is even better in most cases. Pm headed your way.

Well there are all kinds of law firms that you can go to and just making sure that they have the best traffic lawyer to help you out is the most important part. I'm sorry that you have a court date coming up soon and so finding a lawyer as soon as possible is going to be in your best interest. That way this will not go on your record for too long and you will not have to worry about it. http://www.russolawyers.com.au/services/traffic-offences

In Durham http://www.frasiergriffin.com/ are good. A PJC isn't up to the ADA who will be more than happy to accept your plea and then let you ask the judge for a PJC. The problem for you is that the judge may not give you the PJC despite your clean record.
