I have, but only been via Chailey and Lewes. You could try checking for specific cycle routes, there's a cycle route that goes from Cranley to Bramber near Brighton. It's called Downs Link.

I have been having my lessons with Kev Brockbank who aside from being a fantastic instructor is, as a former mechanical engineer; really good at explaining stuff that my arty mind normally has trouble gripping. He is also genuinely one of the nicest chaps I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I don't know Phil personally but have found him very helpful on Facebook and even Kev himself says that Forest Row is blessed to have two top notch A Grade instructors so I am sure you won't go wrong either way. I found it all very nerve-racking at first but with my test approaching I am a changed driver-to-be and itching to be on the road now instead of scared out of my wits by the prospect having avoided it until my thirties! Absolute best wishes:D x
