Local friends of mine recently went down the dispute resolution route and had almost their entire deposit returned because the landlord was being unreasonable (a polite way of putting it). If your deposit is with the deposit protection service, which it should be, you can contest any charges: https://www.gov.uk/deposit-protection-schemes-and-landlords.
