Local friends of mine recently went down the dispute resolution route and had almost their entire deposit returned because the landlord was being unreasonable (a polite way of putting it). If your deposit is with the deposit protection service, which it should be, you can contest any charges: https://www.gov.uk/deposit-protection-schemes-and-landlords.

As Mary Joy has said .. it is a legal requirement to put the deposit into a scheme and you should have a certificate of this giving details with your tenancy agreement.

Any company worth it's salt will make 'made to measure blinds' See John Lewis for example. Venetian, Roman, Vertical, Festoon etc.
