Any ideas on the least expensive place I can take my 4 year old cat to be fixed?
Wandalee C. replied:
Contact them anyway, they might be able to help out... Also check with spay day... https://www.facebook.com/SpayDayNovaScotia
Jenn R. replied:
Spay Day is low income, the SPCA says clearly to apply on line or in person. They do not have the man power to keep calling everyone back. I guess you have to make more of an effort..
Cynthia Y. replied:
I didn't see the comment about not low income first before posting the link for SPCA, Weste Animal hospital then would be your best bet as Spay Day is for low income families and has a waiting list.

Have u ever seen hope for wildlife. Dr barry has opened is own clinic in burnside. Hes the best. 902 407 9663. Wont hurt to give him a call.
Holly L. replied:
Never would I ever in my life take my cat to the Village Vet, it cost me $450.00 to fix her and the reason I guess is because they said her uterus was tight.. Unbelievable but I paid it. There is a vet on Baker Drive and I believe it's around 160 taxes in, don't quote me though. U have heard great things about Dr.Weste in lawerencetown, if transportation isn't an issue.

Id be sad, but I'd rather be cautious and appreciate vaccinations for what they are. Human or animal vaccinations all have their place. People that think any vaccination is bad should really think about the benefits before saying no. http://youtu.be/lhk7-5 eBCrs

Okay, I am in now way expert in clinical vet medicine. This is me backing off. http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/vaccinations/a/FALC_vacctiters.htmhttp://m.petmd.com/blogs/fullyvetted/2010/june/titering_or_vaccines-10182http://www.titertest.com/animals Not sure about credibility of this third one, but the basic consensus is that choosing not to vaccinate humans or animals is controversial. Animals because you can not guarantee the vaccination immunity is still present with the titre test. Basically vaccinations are the 100% way to form new immunities. And while there are side effects, it's better chances then not immunizing. http://youtu.be/lhk7-5 eBCrs

We go to Dartmouth Veterinary on Tacoma, and get a card each year or a phonecall reminding us to bring Cali in. But we don't mind, coz then we don't have to keep track and remember ourselves lol. Especially now that she has to have an annual check up to get the prescription for her Sentinel, and she needs a lepto shot each year as she goes fishing and geocaching a lot, and drinks from rivers etc.
I met Dr. Steele last time I was out there...she is fantastic and knowledgeable.

Perhaps the Eastern Passage Village Vet is not the cheapest around, (perhaps others are cheaper in one thing but more expensive in another), but more importantly, you need to ask yourself, "what am I looking for?". If you're looking for a vet with experience and compassion, you need look no further than right here in the community. I've been a long time client dealing with Dr. Sherlock mostly, I have multiple cats and many with medical issues and I've always been confident that my pets were getting the best care they could possibly receive.

Dartmouth animal hospital near Tacoma. Village vet is very over priced and my pets get nothing but the best.
Catherine G. replied:
Everyone at EP vet is great took care of my cats and dogs. Very attentive
Erin H. replied:
I think it depends on your budget, travel and whether or not you want a vet who can think outside the box a bit. We are so lucky to have so many skilled vets very close by!! I find EP vet has a very caring team (great vet assistants!!) but they are conventional and kind of expensive. I had to take my dog elsewhere because they didn't support the diet I was feeding her even though that diet change solved all the problems we were having with her. I like Dr Barry(Burnside) because he is very open minded and gives several options for care. He doesn't resort to antibiotics right away...Just my two cents.

SPCA will neuter a male cat for $86.25 includes tax, plus a 20.00 deposit, a female cat is $115.00 includes tax, plus a 20.00 deposit .... They are not a Vet clinic so needles, health issues that require meds, etc you would have to make an appt with a Vet Clinic

That sounds like the clinic where I work Erika Kipper. Our cremation prices are pretty standard but our euth price is higher as we let the owners take as long as they need, we sedate prior to euthanizing as well so passing is peaceful. I hadn't suggested Acres to the poster as we are an integrative clinic that practices traditional Chinese medicine and our wait times and prices run a bit higher and I figured the poster was looking for a lower price option. Sorry about the loss of your kitty Erika.
where can i get medication for my cat who has a urinary tract infection village vet wanted, $70 for exam, $60 for test and $60 for medication

Try West Animal Clinic in Lawrencetown. Their prices r alot cheaper.

My cat used to present with "like" symptoms of UTI, however it was Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and it was recommended by my vet (Companion Animal) to purchase special cat food. Having said that, we had the urine test done first to make sure. It's call Royal Canin, Urinary SO for cats. Cost a little more but never have an issue anymore.
