I think No Frills is the cheapest. I dont think there is one downtown but there is one on 149 st and stony plain road which isn't too far from downtown. Then of course Wal Mart or Superstore but neither of those are downtown either. Dollorama has a couple aisles of food too...

U should try couponing. There's a couple of FB groups that will help u get started. I was really skeptical about how much u can actually save using coupons but u can actually save a lot if u do it right.

Bulk Barn. You can buy rice, beans, and soup by the kg for almost nothing. For meat, if you aren't picky exactly what meat on any given day, you can usually find a cheap cut with a 50% off sticker because it is near its best before date in most stores.

I hate saying this, but Walmart is great for saving money. I've heard Giant Tiger is good too.

Superstore/Wholesale Club for bulk on basics. Walmart for low prices on small batches. If you have a friend with a Costco card you can get an entire case of chicken breasts there for around $30 I think - which is what other places charge for 4 of them. Also, look at the coupon wall at Superstore. Always.
