If your pup is dog-friendly, I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow in El Cajon (near Cuyamaca, south of the 52). The dogs are divided in to three groups (small, medium, large/energetic) and they have a indoor and outdoor play yard for each group. For daycare, they play most of the day and have a naptime in the middle. It's great!

I'm going to piggyback off of this post and see if anyone knows a good place for dog boarding. I just moved to SD for a new job and I think I might be traveling once or twice a month with this job so I would love to find somewhere great for my dog, but also budget friendly. I got lucky in NC and found an awesome family that watches after pets for only $10 a night but doesnt seem like I'd find that anywhere here.
I've always hoped to find some dog sitting group that watches each others dogs when needed for no charge when they're out of town. I know I would have absolutely no problem watching over another dog for a couple days, but I guess giving your dog to a stranger can weird some people out.

My mom is a registered dog boarder here in San Diego with Rover.com. Check them out. Rates vary--I think she boards dogs at $25/day but I think each person sets their own rates--some, like my mom, are retired and stay with the dog all day. Others will board the dog for you but also go to work during the day, etc...
