You may want to also look at http://fixya.com/ You put in make/model/year and it will give you suggestions of issues. Many contributors are mechanics. It saved me $400 when my air conditioner went down and solved a problem my gardener had paid the dealer $1800 not to fix. Other than an altenator, it probably s a dumb sensor.
