Does anyone have a recommendation for a Vet in the Laurel/Columbia/Bowie MD area? my sweet Jody(12 years) had cancer 4 years ago and it was recommended by his vet(when...
Becky S. replied:
There is an oncologist at VCA SouthPaws Vet in Fairfax Va 703-752-9100. I went to the eye specialist with 2 different dogs and in the end it cost less than the local vet since they took care of the issues faster and had samples of Meds. I met a woman in the waiting room that had brought her lab there from Seattle WA. For cancer treatment so I am assuming they are really good. She was staying with friends here so he could complete his treatment with them
Janelle P. replied:
Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital in Laurel. Large practice, lots of experienced vets, I'm sure one has a specialty in oncology. I HIGHLY recommend them - they care for all 3 of our Labs. They also provide 24/7 emergency care. (301) 776-7744 Best of luck to you & Jody
April R. replied:
Dr. Seddon at Bowie Town Vet in Bowie, MD is good- (301)464-0402. We have a JRT with an autoimmune disease and he has done a great job keeping him well since his initial diagnosis almost 6 years ago. He also removed 3 mammary glands and tumors from our rescue lab Brutus. He is very practical and an honest vet.

Rocky Gorge gets our enthusiastic recommendation! They have cared for all our labs and our cat since 2009. They are wonderful, caring, AND they are now open 24/7.

Dr. Anderson, Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital, the most compassionate vet I have ever known. Available 24/7 by cell and text. Good luck with everything
Recommendations for a cat vet? We go to Rocky George but I hate that I always end up wait 30 mins even though I made an appointment and they seem to overcharge or run...
Allison B. replied:
I also recommend Dr. hall at Fulton Animal Hospital.
Bette D. replied:
I highly recommend Dr. Weist at Patuxent Valley Animal Hospital in Cherry Tree (301-490-1030) I have been using him for over 30 years and what I like most is that he tries the homeopathic remedies first. He explained one time that many vets (him included) have to rely on what may seem like excessive tests because his patients cannot talk and relate their symptoms. This made sense to be and the bill seems less painful - LOL.
Carol K. replied:
PetVet all the way, Dr Hall and Dr Caplan are both great as is all of the staff. Wonderful with all of our greyhounds and with us too.
Theresa H. replied:
I've seen both Dr Krug and Dr Meyers at VCALewis on 108 and they've been terrific. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes, and I've never had a problem getting same day appointments when needed.

I like everyone at Pet Vet. I have been through kittens, puppies, older cats and dogs and several that we had to have euthanized. They were fantastic during it all.
I am looking for a vet recommendation (other than Pet Vet.)
I know this has been a topic in the past but I can't find it. I also check the google doc with no luck....
