agree with Laurie and Stacy, Meisels, have been using them for cats and dogs for 30 years...have some new Drs...all good. Just brought my dog in for something that didn't look right on her leg..Dr Moldoff took a look, said if was ok and didn't even charge me!

Healing Paws is fantastic! Switched from valley brook a year or two ago. Dr. Mulry is the best!

Dr. Meltzer-Press at Valley Brook. Dr. Riskin did their dental and was very good.

Hawthorne animal hospital. Dr. Robben ONLY. Please don't go to Valleybrook in Fair Lawn. I won't get into the details, but NO

Glen Rock Veterinary Hospital 857 Prospect Street, Glen Rock (201) 444-0032. He's great

We use two different vets - Twin Oaks in Teaneck for our cats, and Teaneck Animal Hospital last year for our dog's sudden emergency illness. He was elderly, in failing health and they were wonderful on a day where we thought our choice was only the eme rgency clinic in Fairfield ( a drive too far to put him through). Twin oaks, FWIW, came recommended to us by several local rescues, and their volunteers, and have been great to us, too.

We love the vets at Maywood Veterinarywww.maywoodvet.com/ very caring, very honest and they are open 7 days and have evening appointments and emergency care until midnight. Avoid Meisels.

Our goldendoodle is 8 and we use Dr. Jamie Desantis at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus. He is fantastic and the hospital is state of the art!!!

I worked at both Fairlawn Animal Hospital and Valley Brook, although I worked for Dr. Perkins at Valley Brook Dr. Meltzer-Press was there also. I don't know the new Dr. there but I would definitely take my animals there over Fairlawn.
Fred B. replied:
My dad always used the Oradell Animal Hospital, now located in Paramus off of A&S drive. They are a 24 hour true hospital for animals.

Dasha the dachshund highly recommends Dr. Mia Frezzo. Also, Oradell is the true emergency place at ANY time. Dasha also had a surgery there, it was excellent and fast, the follow up was the very best, too. People say it's very expensive. But I have never heard of alternative places with a better pricing. Would love to take some referrals!

We have used Oradell for emergency and specialty treatment. Their oncology department is first rate and both Dr. Brenn and Dr. Bailey are caring, realistic and honest.

I take my pets to Oradell Animal Hospital.. The doctors there are wonderful and they saved my cats life.. now I only bring her to them, even if it's just for a regular checkup.

Dr Mulry in elmwood park. Healing paws. Is awsome!
Lauren C. replied:
Fairfield is the best for specialists and emergencies. Or Red Bank. But they're far of course.
Lauren C. replied:
Fairfield was incredible with numerous pets of mine over the years. They were also phenomenal with a dog in our rescue. I know many people in rescue circles who've also had amazing experiences with them. I will only go there. When I can travel, I'll use Red Bank too.
Christine M. replied:
I now live in monmouth county & use Red bank but it is a far trip from Fair Lawn. I am happy with the care and prices. Probably not worth the trip just for shots alone.
Lauren C. replied:
I was talking about for specialists and issues. My chug was born with a liver shunt so any procedure is risky. Even a teeth cleaning. I'm either bringing him to Red Bank or Fairfield. But yes, for vaccines or check ups, there are enough good vets up here for that:)
Amanda G. replied:
I went to Valley Brook for years with family pets and never had an issue. However, I switched vets after my dog wound up having to have surgery not once, not twice, but three times!.. for a simple spaying. The third time they had to call in a specialis t because they couldn't fix whatever they had done wrong originally. I have and will only bring my animals to Oradell if it's an absolute emergency. They charge astronomical prices for simply walking in the door and wanted to bill me more than triple the cost of a regular surgical procedure that my regular vet would have. I also know a couple people who've brought both healthy and unhealthy pets there and never left with them... I would be careful going there, but that's just my opinion. ...healing paws in Elmwood park is phenomenal and they always take great care of my dog. They even call the next day after appointments to see how she's doing. Fairfield is also fantastic. Dr. Hunt has been great with our dog.
Lauren C. replied:
I've been going to Hawthorne Animal Hospital for over 30 years. My primary vet was Dr. Makinson-Shefki. She moved to Florida:( I still go there because Dr. Robben is also phenomenal. However, she doesn't do surgeries so if my pets need anything like that, I'm going to Fairfield or Red Bank.

Ridgewood Veterinary is very nice, but a bit pricey. We mostly use Meisels on Broadway. They are nice, reasonable pricewise, have been there for years, plus they are close to us - a benefit because my cat HATES riding in the car.

Healing Paws!

Healing Paws is terrific. I switched from using Steckler and I, and my dog are much happier now. Dr. Denise Mulry is the most caring and best vet I've ever been to.
