Do you have to keep topping water up or is the water in the plastic resevoir all dirty, brown or oily. If so it probably is the head gasket. But it may be just a water leak or a thermostat sticking. Could also be a water pump siezed or broken impeller. Not verything is terminal. Dont scrap your car just on supposition. Most garages will have a quick look for you. Peter Fords garage down in the Dock in Ely are very helpful, honest and wont turn you over.
