SCAPA's Electrical Problem Update; The company EFCO will be doing all the electrical work that needs to be done at SCAPA... This work needs to be done by a company with the proper licence for this kind of work... EFCO has to submit an application for a permit before any work can begin...Which they assured me would be done yesterday Jan. 3/14... As soon as a permit is approved EFCO will then need to set up a time with NL Power to start the work (and with all the power outages here in NL. we fear this may take some time)... NL Power will need to be involved b/c once EFCO is about to start the work NL Power will have to turn off ALL power to the shelter... The est. that the company EFCO gave us of $1350.00 is for the electrical problems they COULD SEE. Once they begin work they said they MUST test ALL the wiring in the shelter.. We are hoping they won't have to do any other electrical work other then what they gave us the est. for but at this point we really don't know ... This est. may cover what needs to be done BUT if there are more electrical problem this est. will go up.. This work needs to be done ASAP so we are hoping that there are no delays slowing EFCO down... There are precious lives at SCAPA depending on this work getting done ASAP... We have nowhere to house all the animals at SCAPA until the electrical work is done.... Please say prayers and send good vibes that they stay safe until this work is completed... We have to keep the power on at the shelter for the animals and also so the water lines don't freeze up... We really wish we could turn of all power to the shelter for now but with this deep freeze NL is having we must leave the power on... We are really stuck between a rock and a hard place right now... The safety of the precious lives at SCAPA is our main concern but if we turn off all power they would freeze to death... We can only hope and pray that everything will be ok until all the work is completed.. Thank you all for caring about the innocent precious lives at SCAPA and for donating to help pay for the work that needs to be done in order to keep them safe.
