Does anyone have a recommendation for a good builder/contractor? We are looking to build an office on our main floor, so not a very big job.

Any electricians in the area? I think I'm getting fed some bad information from our builder regarding a problem we keep having and would like to talk to someone...

Chris Rakes, with Rakes Electric, he lives in the Commons and is great. Give him a call!

AFCI breakers are a nightmare, we had a bad one that kept tripping in our living room as well when our 65" plasma would be on. They replaced the CAFI breaker and it hasn't tripped since. You can google CAFI breaker issues as they are a plenty. One recommendation is to replace the CAFI breaker with a GFCI breaker, but a licensed electrician is not allowed to do it per building code. If there was a nail in the line, it would trip all the time, when any load was on it. Big TVs are bad triggers because of the way the ramp and pull power based on the spectrum of color, size, and frequency of quick color changes. If you can find a video of a strobe light to force your TV to white-black-white-black rapidly, if it's the TV, that would trigger it. Plasma's are worse than LCDs which are worse than LED LCDs... The builder's electrician is Applied Electric, so I wouldn't use them to double-check your wiring. Also, the GFCIs have a way to signal why they tripped. From the vendor's test procedure, top of page 2 under 'TIME SAVER': ##### http://ecatalog.squared.com/pubs/Circuit%20Protection/Miniature%20Circuit%20Breakers/QO-QOB%20Circuit%20Breakers/QO-AFI/0760DB0204.pdf ##### Good luck, we had numerous AFCI issues at our old house in regard to most of our plasma and my computer equipment tripping the AFCI breakers. I replaced them with GFCI and never had an issue again.
Anyone in the Richmond homes have any extra beige interior paint that the builders left? I have every color except for the one that is throughout my house. I need to do...
Willow C. replied:
Chip off a small sample from a wall, inside a closet is a great spot. You can patch that spot when you do touch ups. Take to Sherwin Williams or Home Depot and have them custom color match. Take a can of a different color used in your home along also, as the type of paint and sheen is probably the same in other rooms. I have had great luck getting a match, saving tons of money avoiding complete repaints. Only one poor match out of four, and it was only a mistake in sheen. Had that one redone. Only cost less than $16 for a quart at Home Depot. Best money spent.
Do you know the best way to replace a screen for my home? I am on Koss, renting. Don't know who the builder was but I need to replace a screen.
Brett R. replied:
Is it just the screen material or the whole frame? Door or window? If its just the screen ' the DIY kits at home depot or lowes are easy. ACE will do it for a reasonable price. If it is the frame itself - i think Ascent Home Services might know what to order. I think they were the warranty company.
