ANTS! any pest control recommendations locally? I just moved into a new house last month and as soon it started getting warm we noticed a lot of sugar ants running along...

You don't need an exterminator. Just buy some of these liquid ant traps.

I went through mild angst of "do I make my own hippie formula", but many of those contain the same ingredients of the Terro. These traps allow the ants to take the poison to the nest. It can take 3 days, maybe 5, but don't get discouraged, eventually you won't see a single sugar ant again. In the past 15 years I've had to use a few twice. They are very effective.
Keep you dog away from where you place them. I've put a wire basket with a brick over a trap in the bathroom before which kept the cat getting into it (I'm not sure she would have, but better safe than sorry).

The terro traps work the best but if you still want an exterminator, I'd recommend Good Earth Pest Company. I didn't feel like they pressured me into using them which I've experienced with other exterminators.

I would try terro traps first. We had a really bad ant problem, no matter how clean we kept our house they were everywhere. I think we ended up using infinity pest solutions. I want to say it was around 100 bucks and it solved the problem. I would have hired someone much sooner had I known it would be that effective. Its been about 3 years, and while we are starting to get ants again so we are trying the terro first. He did tell us those terro traps can work but sometimes they kill the ants too quickly and they don't make it back to poison the rest of the ants.

Agree on the Terro baits - they really do work very well and are fairly inexpensive. Barring that, I had a consultation with Good Earth Pest Company and was really impressed; they didn't try to upsell us on treatment we didn't need and he was pretty candid on how well different options actually work. I'd call them again in a heartbeat.

A couple things I learned from using the Terro traps to kill ants:
1. It might take a while for them to go for the bait. Some types of house ants feed in cycles. For a while, they'll go for grease (you'll see them all over any splashes caused by cooking, for example), then maybe they'll seek out sugars or starches. They may not be interested in the trap at first, but then they'll suddenly go for it, so don't give up early.
2. Odorous House Ants. These are a (sub?) species of very small black ants. You can figure out if you have these very easily. Crush one with a finger and then smell it. If it smells like coconut, you're a winner! They have a behavioral pattern that makes the nest much more difficult to kill off entirely: Once the bait starts killing off the colony, the colony will split into 2 or more separate colonies. The poison will often fail to kill at least one of these smaller colonies, which will then grow to replace the dead one(s). The solution to this problem is persistence. If you keep the traps out near their favorite trails, you'll win eventually.

You don't want Terro bait, get Advion (it's by Dupont). http://a.co/b6 uG89V It's what the pro's use, it is AMAZING. That link is to amazon, follow the instructions. You only need a tiny dot wherever you see ants, keep away from pets and children until it's gone. Once one ant finds it the bait will be GONE within hours, they take it back to the colony and it can kill the queen.

My dad is a licensed pest control operator. If you send me a pm, I'll give you his contact info. His rates are extremely reasonable and he guarantees his work.

To actually answer your question: Triple T Pest Control. It's locally owned by a really great guy named Tim.

Had a bad ant infestation a couple years ago. Nothing seemed to work until I found MaxForce on Amazon. It is a liquid gel like Terro, but they seemed to gobble it right up. Definitely worked, but I have to reapply along the ant trails periodically. Good luck - I don't mind sharing, but these little ants seem to want it all!
Can anyone give me a referral for a good exterminator to take care of the two hornets nests in my backyard? They are in inconvenient places that I can't get to! Ugh!
Does anyone know of a cheap exterminator?!?... At the moment I'm considering either quitting my gym membership to pay for one or asking for an exterminator for my...
