Hi Gabrielle~ There's all sorts of ways to start. You can rent a board out at Fern Ridge - I think at Richardson Point. You can also rent one from Oregon Paddle Sports. They're pretty easy to learn - the 'J' stroke will help you paddle on just one side so you don't have to swap back and forth. Val Stilwell is going to be out on Fern Ridge with a board this weekend - and would be more than willing to give you some pointers - contact her - she's on FB with a red handed frog for a pic. Rent a board and get a hold of her.
