Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in knees? Either here on the coast, Eugene or Corvallis area? Thanks in advance!
Dawn P. replied:
My favorite has always been Dr. Ronald Wobig in Corvallis. I used to work for him when he worked for the group Specialty Physicians and Surgeons. He is now with the Beaver Sports Medicine in Corvallis.

My husband just got right knee replacement with Slocum Orthopedics in Eugene. We were very happy with everything from beginning to end, and he was back to driving truck in 6 weeks. His surgeon was Dr. Mohler.

I have worked with Bruce Watanabe (Florence) for many years and he really is quite good. I've been a nurse for a very long time and have seen many and I really like Dr Watanabe. I also worked with him at another facility before he went to Florence.

Dr. James Ryan in Corvallis.......excellant! I had a total knee replacement 16 months ago......should not have waited so long.

Definitely. I totally recommend Dr. Brian Jewett of the Slocum Center (http://www.slocumcenter.com/physicians/brian-jewett-md) He does hip and knee replacements routinely. He did my hip replacement and am more than pleased with the results.

Mark Fletcher is excellent. But he is USC grad. If you mention this he gives you a GO DUCKS discount.

You may not like Slocum, but Dr. Steven Shah is sooo awesome! I swear I'd marry that man;) p.s. Also my actual hubby has had two total knee replacements and a dozen surgeries... So we've been around. lol.
Wine J. replied:
Lucy, I gave Slocum a third chance to treat me with respect. Maybe Dr Brian Jewett is excellent, but to get to him through all the horrid individuals that work there, well, I give up. It's not worth being treated like a moron to get to a good doctor.
Rebecca S. replied:
Wine Julia, I have been very pleased with the treatment at the Willamette Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. I have only seen Dr. Zakaib, for my hand/wrist issues and he has been very respectful, understanding, concerned, and helpful. I have a lot going on and carpal tunnel is only the beginning. I saw him a year, he ordered some tests that came back inconclusive and took time to create a plan on how to approach it and said, come back and see me after harvest and if it is the same or worse will do an MRI and see what else is going on. Joseph the nurse/scheduler not only set the appointments up for me but he worked hard to get all testing set up for one day out of respect for my busy schedule. They even had a staff member call around to make sure that the local hospital would be the most affordable MRI option for me based on my insurance. They are located here in McMinnville at the Hospital. You should give them a call... after all... at least you can go drink wine afterwards!
Wine J. replied:
Lori - is Dr. Shah at Slocum? Every time I've been to or called Slocum, they've given me a one doc option - that's it. The same one I wrote a long complaint letter about. If I didn't know better, I'd think the place only had one doctor! I even told the rude wench on the phone yesterday that I had personal issues with the doc she was trying to get me in to see, and she gave me no other options and basically told me I should get over it. Yep. No joke.

My husband had his very extensive shoulder surgery with a slocum surgeon at McKenzie Willamette. The doctor did a good job... however, what an A$$$$$$! Bedside manner of a chimp! Wonder if it was the doctor, Julia!
