We stayed at motel 62 for a friends wedding. It was not gross and had a hot tub in our room for $70 a night. Perfect for "getting through" a wedding weekend if your standards are "not gross." I will warn you though. Take a GPS and do not, I repeat, do NOT drive a standard. The hills are next level and getting around is like trying to navigate a 3D maze.

When I would work up there I would get a cabin at [Dogwood Cottages](http://www.dogwoodcottages.com/#!cabins/c1 jh6) during the week. They are pretty quite despite still being in town and were always reasonable and clean.

Hotel New Orleans sounds exactly like what you are wanting. It's it a much better location for walking around downtown as well.
