Can anone recommend a good pediatric dentist? Preferably one that does not require that the child be given Valium prior to simple procedures?
Mandy S. replied:
I'd recommend anyone at Franklin St. Dentistry... They're not specifically pediatric, but are great with kids. Not sure if they take Medicaid, but definitely worth a call...
Desiree E. replied:
Yes! Went through that too, Dr Standring doesn't take medicaid. He is my dentist. I am taking Lillian to Children's Dentistry on Weinbach 477-2836
Corissa S. replied:
Desiree, do you like them over there? I talked to Jd about it and he agrees that we won't be taking her back to Dr. Edge.
Danielle B. replied:
I'm glad I read this! I heard Dr. Edge is the best. I was going to take Annelise there. My sister is in the dental assisting program at U.S.I. I can ask her for a recommendation, if you want. I don't have any cause I don't like Annelise's dentist much.

Dr. Heister at Evansville Pediatric Dentistry is amazing! The first time that Arliss had work done, I was so nervous with all of his breathing problems. So Dr. Heister called his family doctor, and his pulmonologist and they all had a conference call. Then when he was done and still loopy, Dr. Heister personally carried him out to me holding Arliss's stuffed penguin like a baby as well just to make Arliss feel better! It was so cute, and he is so patient with them!!
Corissa S. replied:
Does he take Medicaid? And her dentist now, Dr. Edge, was ok at first then when she had to get her first filling they handed me a rx for Valium and a paper saying all these things they use there (nitrous, novicaine, Visteril, chloral hydrate [which when I looked up said wasn't approved for medical use, wtf?] and Demeral, which they gave to her last time for the extraction, but didn't tell me about until the very end.
Kelly H. replied:
Also Corissa Dad never smoked around U he & Papaw quit right after Nathan got sick b4 he died & I quit right b4 UR second birthday & never smoked n the car with children n it,Granny was the only one that smoked around us ....
Corissa S. replied:
Uh, yeah. I just called Dr. Edge's office, and they told me that he is the one that administers the anesthesia, not an anesthetist. The woman told me on the phone that they do not have to have one there because they do not have to put them out. However, the second time she had a procedure she fell asleep and was hooked to a heart and resp monitor when I went back there and they told me she was asleep for some of it this last time also. Is that not being OUT??
I am looking for a good pediatric dentist for my kiddos....any suggestions?
