Looking for a good veterinarian in CT. Hey all.
I have two dogs, one adult and one brand new puppy.
So basically my experience with vets has been terrible, they seem...

I've used both Bolton Vet and Town and Country Vet, and they've both been wonderful. They aren't super close to you, tho.
joedonuts replied:
I've been real happy with pieper olsen, I've been using the portland office for regular stuff and the middletown office for more serious stuff and 24/7 stuff for a dozen or so years.

My family has always gone to Southington Veterinary Associates, on Darling St. http://southingtonveterinaryassociates.vetstreet.com

Freshwater Veterinary Clinic in Enfield is excellent, we've been using them for years and they are wonderful.
Coldhell replied:
Double A Vet in Wethersfield has always been really reliable. The staff is friendly and informative, the doctors are well-educated, and the rates are fairly reasonable. Only issue is they tend to be fairly booked, but it's worth a shot.

Beckett veterinary services in Glastonbury. My pig got into food he wasn't supposed to eat and we were nervous about it so we called them up (we brought him there earlier that month) and the technician answered our questions. Then the vet himself called us back several hours later to follow up after he was free.

http://www.raggedmountainanimalhospital.com I have been using them for over a decade with my two dogs and they have been an amazing and caring group of people. Its right nextdoor in Plainville too!

if I may, I recommend Windsor Veterinary clinic. Very good man and is passionate with animals. Located in Windsor.

On this note, if someone knows a good vet I'm Greenwich I'd appreciate any recommendations!

I swear by Stone Vet in Watertown. Dr. Wasmer is awesome. She is our dedicated vet as my GSD has endocrine issues.

I've been taking my pup to Dr. Barrios at East Hartford Animal clinic for four years now. He's awesome! Even called me back at 11 pm one night for an emergency.

Star Meadow in farmington. They've been great to me over the phone, and even email. They're expensive, but incredible service.
fuckfaceprick replied:
Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital has been very good to my family, and they were especially good to us when we had to have one of our dogs put to sleep. They're on Farmington Ave, in Berlin.
J_Gunning replied:
If you have an emergency, or need a vet at an odd hour use CVC in West Hartford. http://ctvetcenter.com/ and just use something like their Kensington location for wellness, vaccines, etc.
SolomonG replied:
Banfield vet hospital is in the Pet Smart in plainville just near the Loews movie theatre. We've always had a great experience there. Also it shouldn't be any more than 10 mins from anywhere in New Britain.
zombiecylontimelord replied:
This is fairly out of your way since you live in New Britain, but Engelberg Kristy Animal Hospital in Fairfield is wonderful. He is a fantastic vet. http://www.engelbergkristy.com/

Pieper-Olson in Middletown is good

[Beaver Brook Animal Hospital](http://www.beaverbrookah.com) is fantastic. I have a rescue pup, dachshund/beagle mix, who has had some medical problems and the staff there has been nothing but wonderful. They are more than equipped to handle any needs your pets may have. As far as any emergency calls you may have, [Rocky Hill Animal Hospital](http://www.animalemergencyct.net) is fantastic. They are open 24/7 and will provide detailed explanation over the phone (at no cost) should anything happen to your pets. They are open past their normal hours should an emergency medical issue arise. I know these two locations are a bit farther than you may like but they offer quality service and really care for your animals. Hope this helps.
slapknuts replied:
I don't know about your area but Middlebury Animal Hospital is great.
OneLawWorld replied:
The Newington Veterinary Clinic is very good and close by to you.

Too far away from you to matter, but I think the best vet in the stat is beacon valley animal hospital in naugatuck/prospect. The staff there is incredible. Dr. Lobstein and Dr. Burke are compassionate beyond words. My two kitties who passed away about a year/two years ago saw them for all 16/17 years of their lives. And I would not think of bringing my new kitties any where else. My parents use them, my aunts, uncles, and cousins use them. I highly recommend them. http://www.beaconvet.com

Agree with another poster who suggested raw meat. My sweet boy has been raw fed his entire life, he's now 2 yrs 3 months. We use Hare Today Gone Tomorrow https://haretoday.com and mypetcarnivore.com. Another great site is reelrawdog.com (too expensive for me). All sites have great question and answer pages, especially Hare Today.
Sawyer M. replied:
Oops - Hare Today website is actually hare-today.com
Patti J. replied:
We use Fromm Gold. We had 3 months of loose poops when he was a puppy and found out the puppy food was too rich, we switched to adult at 7 months and he was fine.

Engelberg-Kristy animal hospital on Kings highway. I've used then for 16 years. Dr. Kristy is wonderful.
I'm curious to know if anyone has good suggestions on where I can get my dogs teeth professionally cleaned. We go to ash creek vet normally for checkups and what not,...
Lisa W. replied:
try Dr. Kristy, he is amazing and so skilled at what he does, I would never go to another vet.
Michele P. replied:
I go to Dr. Kristy as well, had my dogs teeth done a couple months ago & I think it was a bit under 300. He's a small dog & I did opt for the adt'l fluid IV which made it slightly more expensive.
Kevin S. replied:
Have not had it done but we also go to Dr Kristy and he is terrific.

My daughter has used Banfield pet Hospital in Norwalk for her dog for at least five years. Banfield is a chain of vet hospitals and, if you look them up on the web, they have both good and bad press. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with the Banfield in Norwalk. She pays a yearly fee of about $470 for their "active prevention" plan. This includes a yearly dental cleaning including a preanesthetic work up. It also includes two comprehensive physical exams, most vaccinations, various diagnostic tests, urine testing, twice yearly fecal exams and deworming, and unlimited free office visits. They currently have two female vets that I both like and respect. I brought the dog there the other day just to have them look at something I was concerned about and there was no charge for the visit. There are also discounts on most medications. Norwalk is a bit of a hike, but for us it has been worth it. You might want to check them out. The phone number is 203-866-2666.
