I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have. I work for Coastal Sash and Door here on the island and work out of our showroom near the Chamber of Commerce. Be careful spending money on hurricane windows if your home has not been updated since the late 90 s. A home built in 1949 would typically not be "tied down" and putting hurricane windows in would likely be a waste of money. 904 655-4070

If you are looking just to replace the glass within the existing frame, Island Glass & Mirror is a MUST! 10 year manufacturers warranty against fogging and it's much less expensive compared to replacing entire windows frame and all!

WindowWorld of Jacksonville made and installed 17 custom “hurricane glass”, Low E3 , double hung windows for our early 40’s vintage beach cottage rebuild. Install was to Miami-Dade wind code (exceeding local code at that time). All have frames and internal muntins to mimic the original 6 over 6 wooden windows. We have had over 30 windows and sliding glass doors over the years installed here in block and frame buildings by them and WW Pittsburgh did my daughter’s 1940’s home up there. I worked for a custom home builder for five years and we used MI windows (manufacturer). You'd need to find a contractor to install them. I'd recommend May and Duprey for that.
