Sedation/ use of relaxing medication also helps make for a good experience. The doctor knows best in this case. Try reasoning with a 3 year old and then put the drill in their mouth. Ocean Dental Pediatrics in Toms River

We use Brick Pediatrics. My daughter has autism and has been going there since she turned 2. She is now 22, but because she has special needs, they will continue to see her.

We tried the laughing gas with a local dentist and it went horribly. Wound up going to Ocean Pediatric Dental and they were wonderful.

It's not local, but I take my kids to, Howell Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Karen is very gentle, kind and explains all options to you. My son had a cavity and I did not want him sedated. She completely respected my wishes and did local anaesthesia and he didn't feel a thing. She won't even take x-rays unless she feels it is absolutely necessary. I highly recommend her!

Ocean Pediatric Dental, they have offices in Manahawkin and Toms River

It's not local but we use beachside pediatric dentist, Dr. Madeline Badalaty. She is wonderful and so sweet! My some runs in and hugs her when he goes! It's in monmouth county though. Well worth the ride!

I think Manahawkin Family Dental. They gave my daughter laughing gas, that was yesrs ago. Not sure if they still fo it, but they were great. Had to switch because of insurance.

Kim, if you would be interested in Lakewood on Rt. 70 at New Hampshire Rd. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gary Wheeler. The quality of his work is superb. And he (and his office staff) cares so much about his patients. Blake still remembers him and to this day has no fear of the dentist. Dr. Alan Swain! He's right across from community hospital. Very good dentist and friend of mine!

Kim, we take our kids to Doc Swain. He's not a pediatric dentist, but he is good with the kids. The office isn't exactly pediatric dentist friendly, tho. I won't leave my kids alone in the exam room. And there isn't really enough xtra room for me to stand. When I had to go out in the hallway while they were doing xrays, the elder Doc Swain told me I could go sit in the waiting room, and if my son started to freak they would call me. I said 'Thanx, but I don't leave my children alone with people I don't know'. He looked a little taken aback. LOL Don't get me wrong. The younger Doc Swain is great with the kids. And the elder Doc Swain has been my husband's dentist since he was 5 years old. But if you're not comfortable leaving your children alone in the exam room with the dentist or a hygienist, this office isn't exactly ideal. For whatever that's worth.

The Eastern Dental in TR on 37 isn't too bad, Kim. It's near the Manchester border, so not too far from you. The dental hygenists are especially good with kids.
