Wondering if there is/or if anyone knows of some good photographer, that are good prices, a reasonable amount.. I'm trying to get more photos done for my portfolio....

So I sent out an email to people who have inquired about sessions before, announcing a new '$300 with a disk of images' price model. My one and only response I got...

I started a meetup group with two other photographers and offered just that, classes and shootouts, but me and my partners found that it was hard to get local photographers to shell out more than $20 for a session. It was a lot of work for the three of us to basically make enough money for a free lunch or two. Eventually we didn't keep the group going and I just started a FB group but never really started the lessons again. Clients are tough, photographers can be a tougher group to get money from unless you are selling gear. Photographers are all in the same boat, not making enough money with photography to afford a lot of things unless they are absolutely necessary. If you can make significant money on this side of the river doing classes god bless but I've found it isn't easy. Might be more money in starting a blog and selling ads or selling actions or individual tutoring. Personally I think you have a lot of knowledge to offer fellow photographers and it would be well worth people paying to learn some of that knowledge, not so sure how you turn that truth into a income.

ChriS, have you tried maybe doing a meetup.com event? I'm sure there a lot of photographers that would join and participate... I know personally I would... Maybe we need to create a group that meets once a month and we each take turns showing some technique... Your a very talented photographer so maybe you can use your knowledge and experience to make a dollar or 2... Just my thoughts

Matthew Warzecha, always good for a solution.

Thanks Grant. Maybe it's just the perfectionist in me, but I actually don't feel qualified to teach photography. Maybe just an absolute beginner's guide to DSLR photography. But like you say, there isn't that big of a market for that anyway, and it's not my dream. I gave up a lucrative job teaching in Japan so that I could be a photographer instead of a teacher. Perhaps it might be time to update my teaching credentials, though getting a teaching job these days is just as difficult as many jobs.
