These sorts of questions are best asked on the SSCA forum... Most members who are sailing and/or abroad are more likely to check in there and should be able to help. http://www.ssca.org/forum
My offer was accepted... Looking for RECOMMENDATIONS... For a pre purchase... Surveyors usually check the boat, but I am not interested in a jack of all trades...

John Deaton at Deaton's Yacht Service in Oriental knows Diesels. Just a ferry ride across the Neuse River away.
James O. replied:
John Deaton is a GREAT idea for the motor. For the rest, Stephen at Pintles and Gudgeons did our survey (IP38) 4 years ago. Simply great, and a very interactive process (as opposed to a surveyor who tells you "Your input is not desired". PM me for the name of that guy.)
Janet F. replied:
Rob Eberle best in the area. Spent the day checking everything and came for haul out and sea trial. Pricey but worth it. You'll get a very detailed report on his findings. http://www.marinesurveyor.com/eberle/

Short notice request; looking for recommendations or warnings for a surveyor on Long Island. PM me if you'd rather not say in a public forum. Thanks much.
Maria S. replied:
We used Coastal Marine Surveyors (Long Island - if you google you'll see another company by same name in Massachusetts). It was 10 years ago but we were quite pleased.
