We like the AAMCO at 6828 Camp Bowie. John is the manager, and he's very nice and honest. I'm not 100% sure if they do inspections, but we've used them for oil changes & repairs and they do a great job, and have even charged me far less than other places. I also like the Kwik Kar on University for oil changes/inspections. Avoid the CS Lee Goodyear on Camp Bowie. They're notorious for finding problems where there aren't any, charging for repairs not actually done, and overcharging.

Similar to you, I do enough to keep my old car running. Highly recommend Downtown Tires & State Inspection off of Henderson St. They'll never push you for extra fixes and they've got a quick turn around for oil changes and inspections. $35 for the oil change, $25 for the inspection.

Kwik Kar on Cleburne Rd. (just N of Berry) has always been good to us. Very reasonable and won't try to sell you on things you don't need.
