We went for 10 days and covered Bangkok, Chiang Nai, and Phuket. Bangkok is like Mumbai, we learned the local travel train system and it helped tremendously getting around! Chiang Mai has amazing elephant sanctuary where you can go spend a day with elephants. Phuket is relaxation part with beautiful beaches and boat tours!

I grew up in Bangkok. I have a few blog posts about Bkk if you want to take a look: http://spusht.blogspot.com/2013/03/bangkok-shopping-places-in-thailand.html Also, for vegetarian food if you go to Indian Host in Sukhumvit 22 and mention “SPUSHT” you will get 5% discount on your bill

Vandana Sandhir Thailand is truly beautiful. Depends on where you want to go. For Bangkok stay, Sukumvit Soi 9 is good for families..Just remember to stay away from red light areas as they may not be family friendly. Bangkok's chatuchak market is the best for shopping. It also has amazing Palace and Buddha temples. For Phuket or Krabi, stay at Aao-nang is an paradise. Lots of options for good stay and food. Quite close to James bond Island as well. TripAdvisor has the best infornation on everything. Hope this helps, Have fun...

can anyone recommend a good hotel that will not cost an arm and a leg on the strip in Los Vegas going on tues
Doe G. replied:
I don't know if they're still there but we've stayed at a great (and probably the last) little family owned hotel called Casiino Royale & Hotel. It's right next to Harrahs@3411 Las Vegas Blvd So. www.casinoroyalehotel.com 702-650-4739. It was small, simple, clean, a great price and convenient to all the big hotels.

Circus Circus. Have fun, Susan!

Blaire House Suites or Best Western Mardi Gras. Both near the Convention Center; not sure how close to the strip. Good prices and nice places.

@bhargavi seshadri as far as i can recall, there is a leela property in chanakyapuri, but that's a five star. Otherwise there is the hotel diplomat on Sardar Patel Marg, which is more of an upmarket guesthouse but a respectable place. I have eaten there a few times. Sardar Patel Marg also houses the Taj Palace and the Maurya Sheraton. Where you stay would have to depend on your budget. Hope this helps.
Bhargavi S. replied:
thanks Nandini R Iyer. That really helps. Leela, Taj and Maurya are a little expensive for my budget. Hotel Diplomat looks reasonable and convenient. Just want to double check on the safety. Hope the hotel as well as the location is safe for families to stay?
Bhargavi S. replied:
Raj Kavalekar oh ok thanks! Would you suggest any other place nearby? Safety is my biggest concern.

Food is definitely going to a challenge but there are Indian restaurants at least in Tokyo. Must see for me was Mt Fuji. I would not suggest Hiroshima until unless you are interested in seeing the museums and pictures of what happened and It would be sad place to visit. Then there is the Tokyo tower, sky tree
