Frank Lawlis came to my mind immediately, because you and I attended a workshop with him and the late Jeanne Achterberg twenty years ago. Frank is a clinical psychologist in Texas with experience treating pain. Oddly enough, I seem to remember Frank did a demonstration in the group with you on how to eliminate back pain. Anyway, I haven't seen Frank since then. But I remember that he's a nice guy. You might consider checking in with him about resources that might be available to you. Here's a contact for his clinic in Texas: http://www.franklawlis.com/iPhone/Contact_Us.html I am sorry to hear about your trouble, my friend. Of course, I'll be sending good vibes your way. Keep us posted about your recovery.

Not sure if any of it fits your situation, but it might be worth looking into as part of the solution.
