We do not at all regret going with wood after our AC flooded a few years ago. Because our slabs are considered "at or above grade", you can install directly on the slab but only with intensive moisture checking of the slab, leveling of the slab, and a great vapor barrier. We decided not to go diy because of this. It could take a while too since the slab does have to be completely dry and it sounds like you guys had some serious flooding that needs to dry out. We used CC Carpet in Lewisville and you can come check out their work if you decide no diy.

Sarah Johnson Shelton, we have hardwood floors and had a flood. Professionals dried it out. No worries. Carpets can't be dried. So no, it won't make matters worse.

Helen Quinn is an interior designer - she suggested at her age with no children, she would go with the hardwood flooring for sure. However, with little children, she would go with a gorgeous hardwood look laminate. Hardwood chips. Daddy & I have all chipped pieces missing up and down our hallway from front door to family room. BIG decisions!!!!! xxoo
