There are going to be stalls at the elephant and castle mini maker fare next weekend. http://makerfaireelephantandcastle.com Our makerspace http://southlondonmakerspace.org is showing what we get up to with a couple of printers and other bits. Im pretty sure i saw one of the major filament providers would be showing there wares.

when you start absolutely no point on spending £60 a kilo even if the filament are exotic I recomend http://3 dfilaprint.com/ 3D FilaPrint is an awesome filament provider and cheap alternatively there is@WeDo3DPrinting as an ebay shop bear in mind that the cheap provider have spool and they give free resealable plastic bag with desiccant something that is not provided by more expensive provider

If you want PLA in a huge range, http://www.faberdashery.co.uk.

Pat McDonald yes they got a wide range with lot of nice colour but at over £60 the kilo by coil in a resealable bag without desiccant. NO spool too hold the filament made it a total pain. And so far I didn't notice much difference in print quality from it, Oh you get a small free sample. The same apply to the other big brand name, everyone will talk about. Come in a box on a spool at least no resealable bag no desiccant and I got a worst surface quality of print than from cheaper filament provider. I'm starting to think that brand name are not always so good for us the consumer when you compare to the cheaper provider filament. I will stand with my previous tips 3D FilaPrint is a much better options, wide range of colour come in a box in a sealed bag containing desiccant there is an an extra resealable bag and a free sample of your choice with every order. If you are in the uk the free delivery usually arrive in a couple of day. The only draw back is that most filament are a bit translucent this is why I also buy from ebay shop wedo3dprinting both of this supplier sell there filament for under £20 a kilo

Well your math is right for 3 mm filament 100 meters 880 gr but not for 1.75 where 100 meters will be around 330 gr I should I've made the precision in my comment. Anyway the point as been discussed in other place view link https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/makerbot/p5 roFkXXNHY
