Alright, my car started making a funny noise this morning. Any recommendations on a car repair shop? I know nothing about cars and don't want to get scammed.

Tiltons Automotive Service n- Gahanna! Great people, and I mean the BEST. Honest and helpful. They worked so well with us last month when our car bit the dust. I wont go anywhere else. They helped us out completely with OUR bottom line in mind, not theirs. They will take care of you there and bonus, its local!
Could anyone recommend an experienced local mechanic? We've got an 06 Kia Sorento that won't start. Not fond of shops and the guys we used to go to before have moved...

I strongly recommend not using Firestone, except for maybe oil change or tire repair. I went for years because they are very convenient. But they showed incompetence when it came to major repairs. After THREE atempts at fixing a front wheel, I got them to reimburse my money,,,,then had it fixed correctly at Bexley Auto for about 2/3 the price. Also, if you go Firestoned, beware! "You need tires" is their version of "do you want fries with that?".
Catherine H. replied:
I second Tom Wilhelm. Good guy, privately owned shop, honest, reasonably priced.
Dustin Keller owner of Xcite motors. Gahanna boy. They do great work and reasonable cost. 206-3606
Michael C. replied:
Bexley Automotive wins Angies List Super Service award most years. I started going there and I agree, they are very good. Worth the drive from Gahanna. By all means, avoid Firestoned.

Lind Automotive on Johnstown Rd. We just had some work done and they were very nice and quick.

These mechanics will let you bring your own part? I'm shocked. That kind of puts them at risk if the part is defective thru no fault of their own. As an insurance agent I'd be surprised if they are protected for a situation like that.

$120? I just got a $4500 estimate to replace my clutch today. Could be worse.

If it 'just needs swapped out', have you considered doing it yourself? Whats the worst that could happen, catastrophic valve to piston contact from a botched installation?
Can anyone give any recommendations for auto repair? I've been to Lindsey Honda...Firestone...and tuffy...no one can figure out why my battery is going dead.

Barb Richardson Coleman I second Rick Harding. Linds used to be owned by my uncle Harry & was Qualified Auto. He's still in their sometimes but they're honest & do a good job. Just behind Classic Clip on Johnstown Rd on the east side of the Moose Lodge.

Its a safety kill swith somewhere on the column, my former roommate unhooked to sabotage it. He was a certified Gm mechanic, so he knew just how to kill the system. He wanted me to sign the truck over for some money I owed him, so he unplugged that switch, and the fuel pump, hoping I would just sign it over to him, but I had already drug it out of the driveway the very next day, and its sat all summer. Its a 91 S10 Blazer, an old man used to pull a boat with, and hehad kept it METICULOUSLY maintained, and Ive done alot of work on it myself. I have looked it over NUMEROUS TIMES, and Kyle even told me, WHAT he'd done to it, Id just really prefer that he NOT KNOW where I live, or Id just have him fix it, aince HE fuct it up, and my buddies trailer isout of commission at the moment, or Id just drop it off at the dealership in Jtown
