Ok. Where are the best thrift stores for child's clothing?
Stacey G. replied:
I haven't been thrilled with any of the places in town. But I tried ThredUp over Christmas and loved it!!! I paid about $6/$7 per item for baby gap, gymboree and Ralph Lauren. Some items were new with tags. I think they have really high quality standards. If you use this link you will get $10 off- http://www.thredup.com/r/DRVDG6
Does anyone know of an agency in town that gives clothing away. I would like to donate clothing to a place that doesn't sell it.
Lisa G. replied:
If you donate to the Humane Society Thrift Shop or Gainesville Community Ministries, they let the women in the Peaceful Paths shelter "shop" there for free. Peaceful Paths doesn't take clothing donations directly. I think HealthStreet on Archer might also have a free clothing closet.
Amy H. replied:
The Junior League Thrift Shop accepts donations. Yes - they do sell them, but they also work with many agencies in town that give families/individuals in need vouchers, which can be redeemed for whatever that value is in closing. So they give away clothing to those people who have gotten vouchers from those agencies.

Gainesville Community Ministry has a program where they give needed items away from their thrift store, so like if someone comes in and needs something they will give them a coupon for 10 items from their store. GCM is a ministry outreach supported by a lot of churches borne from the need to have something centralized that could help more people instead of having people go from one church to get food, another to get money, another to get clothes, etc. Plus they have other programs (like dental and job help) and it enables the community to help those who really need it instead of those who are working the system by just going church to church.

Grace Works in High Springs, they sell the donations and the funds go right back into the community, they help families in need and also support a small Christian school.
