I'm going to Green House Nursery in Jonesville tomorrow looking for same. In the past we've used a ruby red grapefruit (larger than tabletop). Another option: a few places (Fresh Market, some Publix) have potted rosemary that make a good lil tree and can be planted.

You can probably find some UF IFAS resources on what plants to use and other tips. A lot of FL natives are good in GNV area. Just have to make sure they are good in modest cold climates too. What kind of trees and plants do you want to use? What is their purpose? I know South FL, but can possibly offer help for central FL.

On FB there’s a group called Grow Gainesville. It’s pretty active, so searching it will be helpful too in finding advice (I think they recommend an IFAS site too that has lots of info on when/what to plant for our zone). They also do seed shares and plan talks and stuff.
