Welcome to the area!!! Finding developmentally appropriate preschools in the Sumner County areas takes some work. Here is a great place to start it is a link to the Department of Human Services Child care locator list. Click on the county you are looking for care in and it will open up a list of Licensed facilities. Some things to note The star quality score or the circle with the stars on it will let you know how the site did on their assessment. be sure and click on the star as it will bring up a set of individual scores across all program. Even for 3 star programs areas, pay close attention to the star for developmental learning and program assessment., professional development is also important.. Back on the main page to the far right you can also see a history of all licensing violations a center has had by clicking on compliance history. Good luck and be sure and do surprise drop in visits before making a final decision. Look for children engaged in active hands on learning and not being herded from activity to activity as a large group. Here is the link. http://www.tn.gov/accweb/

It is difficult to determine the steps to locate the best fit for your child and family when you are looking for a preschool. Please keep in mind that each child develops at their own individual rate and should never be pressured to conform to the rest of the group. I am attaching the link to the school readiness information at http://www.kidcentraltn.org/article/is-my-child-ready-for-kindergarten Where you can see state of Tennessee’s school readiness definition and how you can be sure you are providing your child with the best experiences that will prepare your child for school. Keep in mind that Kindergarten teachers are looking for children that have developed socially and emotionally since these are the key concepts that lead to school success. Look at classroom schedules if the bulk of the day is spent in children’s choice, free play, center time then you have found a place that respects children and is focused on the individual child.

Elite Education! Both of my boys went there. Both tested into Meryl Hyde Magnet School. Both were reading books at 4 years old. My oldest is reading at a 2 nd grade level in Kindergarten and testing above where he needs to be in almost everything. Elite has so many extra activities to participate in as well. This gives kids life experiences the may not get elsewhere.
Hey everyone! I am here staying with family for a few months and have a 5 year old and 3 year old. Does anyone know of any twice a week preschool classes, good dance...

Does anyone know which preschool is the best and when the sign-ups are? TIA!
Bridgette W. replied:
Hendersonville Christian Academy has a wonderful program and both of my children were ready for elementary. I was also a preschool teacher there for 3 years and the staff was warm-loving and very informative of what my child was learning and how they were in the classroom setting. Both of my children are still there for elementary and middle school and we plan to keep them there till they graduate.

Elite Education is THE BEST. While there are some great Daycares in Gallatin, Elite is the only preschool that is completely focused on getting kids ready to test into magnet school. My daughter has been going there for about six months now (she'll be four next week) and she has already learned more that most kids that are in kindergarten already. I also love how they blend work and play and how their teachers are dedicated to not only educating the kids but also instilling in them how to be contributing members of our community...each month they have a community service project. No other school does that. They also have walking field trips weekly. I just can't say enough great things about them. Get in touch with Krissi Carr to find out more or go visit their page here on FB...and, they DO have part time if you're looking for that.

Mothers Day Out is typically just that, one or two days a week and like 9-3, not work hours. Preschool here typically means longer hours and 5 days a week. Good luck! I drove mine into downtown Nashville to find quality preschool.

My boys have attended First Presbyterian church in town they are eonderful:)
I'm looking for a preschool to enroll my "nephew" in. Everyones help is appreciated. Looking for an affordable preschool but no where I have to worry about if he's being...
Karalyn F. replied:
I enrolled my son into Elite Education in the center of town. It's $150 a week but the staff are incredibly attentive, have an amazing curriculum, plan all kinds of events in town that are free to the public and are really just the nicest ladies over all. I have not had my son in any sort of daycare/preschool because I'm so scared to leave him but I feel 110% safe with them.

We use First Presbyterian Church PreK in Gallatin. They did great with my son. They do part time and full time. He goes 2 days a week and went from knowing none of his letters or numbers to spelling simple words, recognizing every letter and sound, counting to 100. It's $26 a day for the part timers and they feed them breakfast, snack and lunch.
Looking for a good preschool in Gallatin that accepts 2 year olds. I'm on the waiting list at Elite Education, but need something until they call us.

Years ago, I took my son to the Mother's Day Out program at Firsf Presbyterian Church in Gallatin. They had a preschool there. He went there from age 2 until he started Kindergarden in the public schools.
