I second Dr. Nichols. I was diagnosed with crohn's 2 years ago when I was admitted to the ER with severe pain. He was the DR who came to my rescue and was so patient with me since I didn't understand what was happening or my diagnosis. He can be hard to get into but all specialists usually are. Have your Dr call and refer you to someone, that will probably be the quickest way to get in.

I second Dr. Quaison/Anita. Kish they are good. I've been under there care the past 2 yrs. they are very good at their job.

I recommend both Dr. Quaison and Anita Kish as well. Not sure what insurance they take but you can call and find out.

Oooo. About the only person I wouldn't reccomend is Dr Attaluri. He was horribly rude and demeaning to my 77 year old grandma who was in the hospital. When I called him to ask him why he was changing his plans for discharge meds, he called her a liar and some other words. Dr Bonino at KU is who I see for multiple gi issues but I just left West Glen GI who I loved but needed more specialized care. They often could do same day appointments.

I hated Dr. Attaluri so much i went to the ER with no insurance rather than see him. I see the P.A,Anita Kish, at the same office. She is amazing and down to earth. Attaluri saw me 1 time after Anita had been treating me for awhile and decided to write out that I was ignorant about my 10 year old diagnosis of Crohns disease and that she had failed to inform me how severe it was. Then promptly put me on steroids even when I told him I don't respond to steroids anymore. He is awful.

Dr. Nichols is amazing, but I don't know if he takes state insurance.

I would definitely check with Kids TLC in Olathe. They have psychiatrists there for out patient who are well versed in both mood disorders and autism.

So it's far from Gardner, but so worth it. Dr Barash. In Gladstone. He is amazing with my daughter. He can read her so well. And listens to parents (which JOCO DMH never did) Even has evening availability twice a week. He has other docs and NPs in his office. They have walk-in spots every day, not necessarily your doc but you can see someone from the office. He used to be the head dr at Marillac Psychiatric Hospital (idk if he still is or what). He is so great that I would pay out of pocket if I had to. And she goes 4x a year. And we recently moved to Columbia MO- and we now drive 2-3 hours for appts with him. He's worth it. He has med students come through all the time, but you basically just tell them what's up, then repeat it to Dr Barash a few minutes later. Not too terrible

We really like John Sherard at Gardner Family Care. He handles kids and adults. There are others in the office too.

Don't go to Gardner family care, I go to Dr Schultz and she is wonderful. Find someone that is affiliated with Shawnee Mission Medical Center; they are the best hospital. They were wonderful to me and my mom; best care and the best food I ever had and treated us wonderful. Love them, if you want to know why I don't suggest the place here in town message me and I will tell you.

Our son saw Angela Rupp at Gardner Family Care for his physical, and she was great with him! Our insurance covered it 100% as it is an annual well child exam. If you don't have insurance, most chiropractors will do them for about 30.00.

I'm not sure how they can turn you away, I thought the law was that they couldn't refuse care to anyone. I might be wrong. Dr Burns is amazing though, he's at Pure Health Medical Center in Overland Park. Really cares about his patients, money is secondary.
