Can anyone recommend a financial planner? I'm not interested in hearing from financial planners, but rather others and why they feel their advisors have been helpful. ...

So, I just helped my parents with this. We were looking for a hourly based, fee only CFP (one who doesn't get paid on commissions). We interviewed both http://www.garrettplanningnetwork.com/illinois/schaumburg/member/cheryl-krueger-cfp%C2%AE and http://www.garrettplanningnetwork.com/illinois/lombard/member/allison-m-stutts-cpa-cfp20 reg. Each was quite different in their personality and approach; but I thought each one had strong positives. My parents chose Cheryl, and have enjoyed working with her so far.

I highly recommend, before seeing anyone, that you read the book "Retire Inspired". It's an easy read chockful of excellent advice. Secondly, I recommend going to daveramsey.com and taking a look around.

I've been really happy with Terry Murphy at Total Clarity for 4 or 5 years. I'm dirt poor but he treats me just like everyone else there. Lately, I've gotten to know Jennifer Freymark from Edward Jones in Glen Ellyn and I'm very impressed with how much she knows and how pro-active she is. If you contact either of them, tell them I sent you. Won't get you anything, but maybe I'll get a free lunch! https://www.edwardjones.com/financial-advisor/index.html?CIRN=faBfgPINqp51Lu20R1 af4AK2%2FfuY1PmNsxxsaTPlPsnby4QuiOqLpiF0 bmYk41GKhttp://www.totalclaritywealth.com/

We've been with them a long time and chose them after doing extensive research.

Hi Sara: I would recommend either Jeff or me on this list. As far as I can tell, we are the only full fiduciaries....everyone else is a commission based broker. I have another I'd recommend you talk to in the area, so that would make 3 recommendations. Actually....I have another so that would be 4. All in the area, all full fiduciaries, all with a couple decades of experience. My office is 630 802 9600https://www.facebook.com/20478641349 Blue Haven Capital
