Home inspector recommendation? Can anyone recommend a good home inspector for the Reston/Chantilly area?

I suggest having a general contractor do your home inspection; I can't speak to any home inspection companies specifically/locally but often while they have local offices if you run into an issue you'll find you need to take them to court in another state (where company is actually based). This is set up to dissuade you from pursuing remediation in the event of a fuck-up, or the inspector missing something important. If you pay a general contractor a couple hundred to go over any home you are potentially buying you'll have someone who's far more interested in doing the job right and giving an thorough, unbiased viewpoint.

I used All-Pro Services Inc in Alexandria and they were really good. Not sure if they service your area though.

I used the guy both my cousins used and recommended. I liked him a lot and my realtor said he was good too. He went to check the roof and the electrical panel which apparently not all of them do. https://www.homeinspector.org/HomeInspectors/Find/Details/17060BH/Chantilly/VA/Inspect-4-U

I HIGHLY recommend Pillar to Post, specifically Eric Boll. I recently bought a house with a VA loan - who has very restrictive loan/inspection terms - and he did a 4 hour inspection on my (not very large) house. He tested and checked EVERYTHING. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with Eric!

I bought in June and researched home inspectors to the bottom of the Internet before choosing Jim Vaughn of HomeAuthority. [HOMEAuthority](https://www.homeauthority.biz)
I was prepared to pay higher costs for a thorough inspection because after the first walkthrough of my current house, I suspected that the house was poorly flipped, and wanted to know exactly what problems I would be purchasing (water, electrical, plumbing, drainage issues).
Jim didn’t catch absolutely everything but he gave a pretty darn thorough inspection (including actual roof, attic, and electrical panel inspection), with a photograph-heavy report which helped me prioritize issues for negotiation, and I had a handy list of to-do(s) after the sale. The seller’s agent was completely unexcited by my choice and complained heavily about the resulting list of issues, which further cemented my happiness with Jim’s work.
Jim also patiently answered a lot of follow-up questions that I had, and later recommended to me a GREAT electrician, who I also now use for most issues (Kevin Collins, Alexandria Electric). They’re both top notch and SUPER responsive, which is out of the norm for nova contractors.
