check out priceline.com - I use the "name your price" feature all the time when I travel and get really great deals! The most important thing to do with that is to narrow down what area you want and research what hotels are listed on the site, like Downtown, 4 stars, find the cheapest priced hotel in that area and then go to the name your price tab and bid a little under 50% of what it's listed at. (only thing to consider is if you will have to pay for parking, often times downtown hotels will charge for it...)
