We used [https://westmichigantreeservices.com/](https://westmichigantreeservices.com/) to take out a huge dying willow tree and a huge sycamore that was dropping branches on our house. We had about 6 other tree services come in and give us quotes but West Michigan was in the middle ground on price and offered stump grinding and cleanup. They had good communication, were on time, and took both trees down as well as ground the stumps in two days (these were massive trees). Afterwards they cleaned everything up nicely and even laid down mulch on the areas where the stumps were ground down. We were very happy with their work.

From my experience, I would suggest discussing the cost of stump grinding AND removal of the ground up stumps as well. We happily paid for the tree and stump grinding but they left 3 unsightly mounds of dirt and ground up stumps in the yard. Not really sure what to do with the mess.

Not sure of their footprint but I met the owner of Tree Fish. Super nice guy and I always heard stories about his work. This was a few years back so you'd have to call them up.

I really was pleased with Good Earth Tree Care (link in another comment). They are locally owned, small business, and know their stuff. I had a decently large tree that they took down in about an hour and a half (I didn't pay them to haul it away, because my brother could do that with me). It was over a month from tree down to stump grinding, though, but I'm guessing Covid stuff contributed to that delay. Cost was comparable to any other place I checked.

My neighbor used Mark's Tree Service (based in Grandville) ...he was the cheapest out of 3 bids and he did a good job. It was a very large tree that required a crane.

I was quoted $450 to take down a poplar plus an extra $100 to remove the stump. That was Forest Green Tree Service. They would cut it into 16 inch lengths for an additional $60. I'm seeking additional quotes as well!

I had a large tree dropped a few years ago, they just cut it into semi-manageable pieces and ground the stump. It was Cutting Costs Tree Service. About $400-ish, if I remember correctly.
