Hi Angela, Gay Hensley does alterations from her home in PG (lives on Walter Wright Rd. Around the corner from us). She is a professional, does costume designing and production for UNCG 's Theatre dept. (among other groups) and does incredible work. Don't know how busy she is but you can call her at 676-8303.

Ms. Hensley (mentioned above) helped us out last year with a quick need and the price was right!

There's an alterations place on Holden Rd at the intersection of the the library and Food Lion. They've done several of Kayla's dresses and don't take long. I think it's called Alterations Express.
Wedding Dress Alterations Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a seamstress to alter my wedding dress in GSO area. David’s Bridal gave me a crazy high price and I would like...
RekhetKa replied:
KT Alterations on Milner Rd - looks like a little hole in the wall spot, but they do amazing work and charge a fair price (maybe even a little too low), which I know because I used to work in alterations, so I know how much time and effort goes into it. Wedding dress alterations can be expensive due to needing to work with/around beads and boning, but KT's definitely won't rip you off.

Sara’s Alterations - 2715 Battleground Ave 336-282-2188 I haven’t been there in quite some time, but they were a go-to when I needed a lot of alterations early in my career. They also altered my wedding gown - hemming, taking in the bodice, etc. They always had a quick turnaround, and I never felt their prices were too high.
SJClawhammer replied:
I had a fantastic experience with Sarah's Alterations. My gown needed some really fussy work to get a sheer neckline to lay flat and a complicated bustle; they worked magic and it was still less than $300.

Jesse Locke Alterations is located in downtown Greensboro at 114 E. Washington St, phone number 336-273-1460. Jesse is an institution on GSO. His business was affected by some of the downtown riots last year, so he’s grateful for any Clientele coming his way. His skills are unparalleled.

I'm not 100% sure she's still open, but Margaret Christie on Market St did my dress alterations (a number of years ago)...she was great.

If you are willing to travel a bit English's Bridal in Kernersville is wonderful. I got mine done there, which was a lot of work (taken in two sizes, hem five layers with lace and a few other things) for $450. The shop is family owned and small so you feel well taken care of. They also give a discount if you pay cash

Out of curiosity, what did they quote you? Sadly I have no recommendations. :(
Does anyone know a really good and decently priced seamstress in the Greensboro/ High Point area. I have two vintage pieces, a vest and a sweater that needs a little...

Looking for a creative seamstress interested in working on some upcycling with me. Any takers?
Mickie E. replied:
Franne Harrity I have fallen in love with upcycling clothes. I saw this done at a couple of craft shows and figured I could do it too. I have spent a lot of money at Goodwill buying sweaters and shirts for my projects. I just don't have the talent (nor patience-- ask my sister Cherie Huddleston Ring !!) for the sewing check out my Pinterest board and u will see some examples

BB’s Alterations beside Kickback Jacks on Battleground. I’ve never had a major adjustment done there but I’d totally trust them to do it.
RekhetKa replied:
KT Alterations on Milner Rd. I used to be a seamstress and I know my limits, so I took my wedding dress to them when I lost more weight than anticipated. They took a size 8 in to a size 4 AND gave it a sweetheart neckline. Did I mention the dress was beaded? Effing sorcery, didn't think any of it would be possible, but they didn't even bat an eye. Amazing work, can't recommend highly enough.
riends - I am on the investigative hunt for a good, reasonable seamstress who might be able to make bridesmaid dresses since my dear friend Jamie Randall Henderson...

Margaret Christie's - excellent! http://margaretchristies.com/Margaret_Christies/Home.html
Can Greensboro friends suggest a good seamstress/ alterations place ?
Leslie M. replied:
for simple alterations Alterations Express on Battleground is quite good. Fast, well done. Reasonable. But they're not into taking a garment apart for you. For example, I wanted a skirt taken in and they did not want to remove the waistband to make it fit the smaller skirt. So they just zipped up the waistband the same as they did the side seams. Acceptable.
