Best Japanese restaurants in Grenoble... Any recommendations? What are your faves? (thanks in advance!)
Veronica P. replied:
None of them are especially good, unfortunately, and aren't run by Japanese people either (unless anyone knows of a real one??) Le Kyoto in La Tronche is all right.
Dana B. replied:
Tei Laine Oh yes! I forgot to mention Ozenya - thanks! They have sushi & onigiri /etc. too but I've yet to try it. Very kind Japanese staff.

Roulie Boulie and other Asian grocery shoppers - not sure how up to date this is but this is a popular article from the archives: http://www.grenoblelife.com/grenoble-spice/

This is why we make sushi at home. unsure emoticon I ate at that Sushi Shop once - it was pretty good but really pricey - even by sushi standards.
Dana B. replied:
Thanks guys! Looking for more of a sit-down restaurant type of place, by the way, to have good-quality sushi. Not a traditional udon/ramen place as I don't think that kinda' thing exists here. Speaking of La Gallery's sushi -- 'was pretty bad last time I went. (and not a fan of Le Fuji in St Martin d'Heres - really bad IMO!).

For sushi lunch-spots I recommend Sushi Party, rue Thiers (great lunch specials..best prices I've found so far..fast and friendly service) and you can also check out Yummy Sushi, place Vaucanson. I'm annoyed with Sushi Shop (rising prices with crappier lunch menus) so no comment.. Haven't tried ones on rue Condorcet..a bit of a walk for me.

Also, I had someone recommend Osaka to me once but I've yet to check it out. http://www.cityvox.fr/restaur.../osaka_200039413/Profil-Lieu

Anyone know a good chinese restaurant? Like with real spice and flavor?
Christopher D. replied:
Unfortunately this doesn't yet exist in Grenoble. Thai Orchid is definitely a good alternative with a nice Laotian chef and waitress.

hey, I just read this discussion and wanted to share my experience with la cuisine asiatique fait maison. It took half a year now to find all my ingredients just for a good thai soup or indian curry. there are not many places to get the good stuff but I can recommend Saigon Store (rather viatnamese, my favourite) rue Doudart, Carrefour Asiatique cours Berriat and Rajah Bazar av. Félix Viallet. Maybe you have the same issues, if not and in all other aspects: Bon app! ;)

Thanks I just heard 'Le Canard Laque' is good too but hard to get a reservation on the weekend, which is good I spose.
Hi, I am looking for a restaurant in Grenoble that serves frog legs "cuisses de grenouilles." Does anybody know of any place? I know its not typical food of this region...

Le Per' Gras up at the Bastille or Atlantic Oak in St Martin d'Hères.
My family are coming over soon and they all don't eat meat, can anyone recommend any restaurants that are good for vegetarians?
María C. replied:
Hi! I'm a vegetarian and I find that there is almost always a veggie option in restaurants. But, more specifically I really recommend L'apparté in Les Halles (only open for lunch) and Kathmandu, a nepalese restaurant in rue Condorcet. There is also a vegetarian restaurant (that I haven't been to) called Au Claire de Lune, in rue Três Cloitres.
