Hello fellow neighbours, does anyone have any advice with regard to a decent walk-in clinic that is in the area? We don't have a family doctor yet. Thanks in advance for...

our doctor is based at Stonechurch Family Clinic up on Upper Ottawa. They have a Health-based perspective in an integarted clinic. McMaster places many of their interns/students there, so you are part of a Teaching Clinic. I am also voluntarily part of many studies (Breast Cancer Screening, etc) which informs their research. It is a bit of a hike, but a vital place for medical students, being supervised by Team Doctors.

I have Dr. Holmes from the Wilson Medical Clinic...he's kind, smart, gets to the root of issue as opposed to temporary solution.
Laura M. replied:
Margaret, I am not sure if Dr. Chris Cronin is still taking patients. I was lucky to get in with him last year. He is a WONDERFUL doctor! He is at 414 Victoria Ave N, Hamilton, ON L8L 5G8 (905) 529-5221 Call and see if he will take you. It is a bit of a process to get in, you have to have an initial interview with him and then if you both agree then you can book an appointment after this. He is thorough and kind. He is also young... so I am hoping I won't have to have another doctor (ever).
Glenn D. replied:
BTW LInda Laura Moreland, Chris Cronin is MY family doctor. I'm really pleased with him.
Rachael M. replied:
I've seen Dr Cronin before, and he is awesome. There are also lots of doctors there that are always accepting new patients. We just switched from Dr Greenspoon to Dr Barton, she is amazing:)

My family dr is in Grimsby but not sure if she is accepting new patients anymore. Dr Julie Timko if you want to look her up. We saw Dr. Nwebube who is a paediatrician when Madeline was young and losing weight. She works out of the Superstore in Grimsby but again not sure if she is taking on patients. Sorry, I am not much more help! You could call the Public Health nurse, the one I spoke to when I had?Madeline was able to give me the name of a couple of doctors that were accepting new patients. Good luck!
Any recommendations for family doctors in the Waterdown or Ancaster area? Mine never seems to be around when I need her. I have back, hip and knee pain so someone who...
Joanne T. replied:
Dr.Coren is amazing. Not a pill pusher like some doctors. She really takes the time to do the proper testing and figure out what will work best for her patients. And there are 3 other doctors in the same office. So if something happens and she isn't avail, one of the other doctors usually see you.
Lucy A. replied:
Dr. Brad Watkins in Burlington on Plains Rd west of Waterdown Rd. I have been recommended to him and have to others. Brad is not the type to fix you temporarily and have you go back, he once told me "I could save you money if you do your exercises" as he shows you what you can do to relieve pain, which works.
Debbie L. replied:
Dr. Laura at Kinstruct Health on Main St., Waterdown has helped my aches and pains. I've had neck, back, hip and knee issues. She adjusted me and recommended exercises which I've followed. Feeling sooo much better. Staff is super nice too.
Roger D. replied:
Highly recommend Dr Mahmoud Ridha at the Dundas Walk-in clinic. He is my family doctor and quite honestly the best in my 57 years. Very thorough, determined, most excellent man.
Kimberley T. replied:
I really like Dr Hanna in waterdown by the Fortinos.
Andrea D. replied:
Dr Hanna! We have moved a lot, and have changed doctors 4 times in the past 5 years. He is the best doctor we have ever had. My daughter and I have had many referrals to sort out some medical issues. Very happy with him! Plus he doesn't rush you through.

Dr. Imbulgoda in Waterdown beside Turtle Jacks. Both male and female Doctor in practice. Both available with limited wait time. And I never feel rushed during my appointment.

Wish my family doctor had space he's really wonderful. I'm wondering if you can go to the walk in to find a list of GP's in Hamilton accepting patients? Im glad that you are not in crisis and being proactive about your illness and aware of what is going on! Maybe you can do a search ok ratemd and pick a few GP's then just call and explain and see if they'll take you ok? Good luck!
CommandZ replied:
Most family doctors are connected with the Hamilton family health team and can get you counselling services through them.
m_hache replied:
Hey, I can understand that a walk-in clinic would be of little help for you, but maybe a family doctor shouldn't be your primary health care provider for mental health crises. Do you have a psychiatrist? Do you do any counseling or therapy? A family doctor could definitely refer you, and get you headed in the right direction. The McMaster family practice (downtown at Bay and Main) is taking new patients at the beginning of February. Fill out an application and they will contact you for a tour/info session.

Ive never used reddit before so forgive me. But if you are female theres the Womens concerns clinic and thats about all I use in this city. Many places offer cbt which for some help - but what ppl dont always realize is some drs want you fully medicated before even starting cbt. I find cbt does not help those of us who suffer long term/lifetime clinical depression... the kind where meds help but therapy rarely does. Ive had several drs in the Hamilton area and have been given the run around, long waits and horrid drs that would rather sit and do nothing because "its the winter and everyone is SAD." I also have friends who work in medical claims and were able to loosely confirm that the three drs I had the most issues with are acutally hot drs for issues. So watch the clinic you sign with because many of them you sign on to - will not and can not refer you to services outside of the "family"... which leaves you without access to some potentially better options. If you drive I suggest Burlington Doctors hands down. They arent all locked into " family" groups. I drive all the way to Peak Family Medical. My GP has a specialty in psychology and provides me with so much more than any local dr. Depending on what exact mental health trigger and problem you have depends on your best options... but I definitely encourage you to find a dr you want to work with and who can refer to anyone that would best suit you - not the best in their "family".
Anyone know a Physiotherapist in Ancaster/Dundas that has specialty in the area of TMJ? I've been suffering for 2 months now - can't even bite an apple or chew anything...
Michelle F. replied:
Thanks Jo! For now, I'll see what relief I can achieve with help from my chiro (she also replied - lol-Ancaster Cold Laser and Chiropractic on Wilson:) ) - she's great too!
Sandra M. replied:
What about an osteopath? I totally recommend Lisa Foreman at Upper Ottawa Physiotherapy.
Joanne C. replied:
I go to Physio care services in uppe James and mohawk. Have been for years. Have open door policy with them cause I have been injured a lot. I strongly recommend them- wouldn't even be walking if it wasn't for them. Can give u their number if u like. I have tried others but they don't compare.
Anybody got a Family Doctor that they would recommend and is accepting new patients??
Grant L. replied:
I'm not positive if he's accepting patients, but I would absolutely recommend my doctor. Dr. Szilvassy, corner of Upper Wellington and Concession St. 905-383-1921
Annette M. replied:
Try Dr. Nadia Mercante...not my doctor but works with my doctor. Had to see her a couple of times and really liked her.
Can anyone recommend a family doctor, preferably female, accepting new patients? Thanks!

Mc Master medical in its brand new gorgeous building across from City Hall. Great service, dropped in this morning for an emergency (eyes nearly swollen shut due to poison ivy) and they attended me promptly. Really love the location, facilities (x ray, lab etc all in one building) parking is cheap and its also easy to take transit there. All good!
