My son is almost 16 and an athlete. He has been largely vegan from birth. He is 6'2" now. I would suggest making sure he has a b12 supp and that he gets enough protein. Without the protein his muscles can weaken. You could even track his food for a week or two (like on myfitnesspal.com) and see if his macros look good.

I used to go to Dr. Brown (optimal health, I think). His office is off of eastern and horizon ridge. With my stomach disease, he was willing to look at all aspects of healing as opposed to just writing a prescription!
