Walter Ahlers had a shop next to the the old Sherman House in the 70's. He would always sit outside in his white coat waiting for a customer. My wife Kathy thought he looked like Vincent Price. He reminded me of Floyd the barber on Andy Griffith.

When Butch had his shop next to what now is the Moose, Walter Ahlers was on the square next to Bakers Shop which is now Chinese eaterey. Walter decided to retire and move to FL, so Butch moves to the square and Orel Bigham takes over barber shop on Wa lnut street. But Walter either didn't like retirement or FL cause he comes back and opens up shop next to Sherman House in the little room Dr. Baker had been in years before. As I remember it.

roger and i played trombone in the band together. somebody mentioned Sherman House at stotlar's but i think it is the building by the sheriff's office. and the hotel where the bus stop was name escaped me right now. restaurant and several businesses were in that location: Hoffman House just came to me.
