TMAG and the Botanical Gardens are excellent places to go with kids (and the Bot Gdns have great chips and coffe you can takeaway and devour in the gardens). MONA is also a fun place to go with the kids (as long as you avoid the "porn-ish" rooms - but the staff a reall great at telling you where to avoid! Ananpurna in North Hobart has good Indian, yummy lunches on weekdays can be had at Pulp Friction - Juice Bar in Mathers Lane. Can recommend the macarons at Sweet Envy in North Hobart too! My kids also love to hang out at the Train Park in North Hobart (corner of Hill Street and Warwick Street) or the park down at Lower Sandy Bay (which can also include a winter walk along the beach). You could also drive up the mountain to get some panoramic views of the city and maybe even have a play in the snow (if there is any)!

Ok, I'll start with Villino Espresso for coffee. Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) for outdoor wombling. Eumarrah Organic & Natural Food for wholefoods.

Milk Chai - the best bestest is at Bury Me Standing Coffee Co. the real genuine stuff. Very close to city. Taj Palace I hear is very good - very close to city. Rivulet Cafe is also a great outdoor play space for kids with an attached Cafe etc. Not open Sunday. But yes the Train Park (Caldew Park is the official name) in West Hobart is a great park as well - if raining Far Out (inside) play centre is a good back up.

El Pueblo has served me watery burritos and tacos both times I have gone there. They are wrapped in foil when they serve them (almost like they pre-make them and then let them set all day). Try El Cantarito (although they are closed on Mondays) in Portage, or I know you didn't say Valpo, but La Cabana is good. There is also another Mexican restaurant in downtown Valpo but the name escapes me.

Rice Garden in Hobart by the Hospital is AMAZING. It's a very small place with maybe 7-8 tables, but their food is sooooo good. And there is a new Mexican restaurant in downtown Hobart that I've heard is really good. It's across from the tattoo parlor.
