Visiting Hobart in October and looking for an amazing restaurant for a romantic night out; delicious food and rockin' cocktails; preferably not a seafood restaurant....

Of places I've been to that were good:
- Glasshouse (although they do more canape style food and not full meals if I remember correctly, but very good). It's very nice especially for having drinks/cocktails
- Aloft (great setting and great food)
- Frank (south american grill/steakhouse done fancyish, decent setting, great food)
- Smolt (Setting maybe not quite as nice as previous due to not being on water, but I've had some amazing meals here).
Other mentions:
- Black footed pig also has great food but I found it a bit cramped and it's right next to Telegraph which is overflowing with drunk students so maybe not the best.
- I also had very good food at Source at Mona, but it's all the way out there and a lot of people so it is over rated / over priced. They could be right, but it's very fancy and food was great.
Other decent places I've heard of that I can't personally vouch for:
- Ball and chain
- Templo
Personally, my vote would go to Glasshouse or Aloft in terms of combination of romantic setting + great food, although check the food situation at Glasshouse.

I was blown away by the food and atmosphere of Frank.. if you do decide to go there do not mistake it for Franklin.. different place. Not a relaxed or warm experience.
