So I had signed up a few months ago for Seller Leads on Realtor.com. I was very specific with the person from Realtor.com that I did not want buyer leads. They assured...
Daniel S. replied:
You are handling this correctly. Take it to social media respectfully and give them the opportunity to fix the situation before the negativity sets in. If you are looking for seller leads, you may want to look at Prime Seller Leads.
Jeffrey S. replied:
I've been dealing with Realtor.com for years, but for some reason they have become very arrogant.
Mike N. replied:
if realtor.com lists homes for sale... wouldn't the majority of leads be buyers?? I don't know why a seller would look to realtor.com to find a sellers agent as a first choice...
David W. replied:
cancel your credit card and you will be done with them. It happen to me with Realtor.com too.
Justin R. replied:
Jeffrey Samuels That is fine but those leads still have value and actually from what I've found the realtor.com leads are typically better quality than normal PPC leads. They don't used forced registration so they're typically pretty good. It's not ideal but rather than spending the time arguing with them over the contract nurture a couple of the buyer leads, pay for the program and then some and don't renew.
Daniel S. replied:
Jeffrey Samuels a lot of our clients have had great success using Prime Seller Leads. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you the name and number of someone to call to get a foot in the door for you.
Jeffrey S. replied:
Since Realtor.com wants to be a cheat about this, I just cancelled the credit card they have on file. No more charges from them.
April R. replied:
They do not have a seller lead program for agents. You were duped! I have used Realtor.com for a long time... in fact, I have been watching and waiting to see if they offered seller leads. I just re-signed one of my zip codes with my rep and asked again but still no seller leads program and he doesn't know if there is one coming.

As far as integration go, be humble and respectful and you'll likely be ok. Someone once wrote act like you're a guest, which I think is a pretty apt suggestion.
ashabash88 replied:
Some brokerages/realtors do property management and rentals as well but a lot just do purchases. You can usually look at the listings on their websites to get an idea. Some realtors just aren’t taking on any buyers at all right now because of this crazy market too.
CaptInappropriate replied:
i have a mortgage broker license. your best bet on a rental is craigslist and other similar pages. some realtors will do rentals, but the managing realtors all just end up posting on craigslist.

I always recommend Gary and Tammy Murakami. Super down to earth. Agree with other poster that they don’t tend to do rentals, but working into a purchase is something to talk to them about. https://www.locationshawaii.com/agent/gary-murakami/?aid=3579

Huge fan of [jillward808.com](https://jillward808.com) although I don't know if realtors in Hawaii really help with rentals, she'll know either way. She'd be the one to help with buying, for sure. I'm not sure you will have any chance to integrate in just one year, so just don't be rude.
juryk replied:
hicentral.com Don’t bother with CL or FB it’s a waste of time, a reputable rental posting goes on hicentral (Oahu’s MLS for all realtors on island)

Not sure on realty but for integrating;
Read up on the unique history of Hawaii, especially on events (and population trends!) post European contact.
This is a pretty good list, https://www.honolulumagazine.com/50-essential-hawaii-books-you-should-read-in-your-lifetime/
from it, I can personally vouch for The Kumulipo, Hawai‘i’s Story by Hawai‘i’s Queen, Land and Power in Hawai‘i: The Democratic Years, and From a Native Daughter: Colonialism and Sovereignty in Hawai‘i. These were all taught in my 'Land Use and Tenure in Hawai‘i' course.
Once you've gotten here, try to visit some outdoor volunteer events, especially ones at cultural sites where possible. Even if you're not a student, most of the events for the MINA service learning program; https://socialsciences.manoa.hawaii.edu/service-learning-program/ are also open to the public as well, but that has a good kind of 'centralized calendar' list to it. If you google them, I recall most if not all having some kind of online presence. These also have a cultural aspect to them outside of the general nature aspect.
But if anyone knows any better list of volunteer events let me know.
Making the move, any realtor recommendations? Hi All,

There are tons of realtors here. Just do a search for houses that seem kind of relevant for you and then contact the realtors that are listing them. Don't forget to read https://www.reddit.com/r/hawaii/wiki/moving and make sure you spend lots of time here before you buy a property, even if it means renting a condo or something first.
Futless_buttless replied:
Check out hicentral.com and avoid the middle man. We don't have brokers and stuff here. You can just rent directly (unless you have pets...then you're a bit screwed).

Ask for Erein Trawick at Central Pacific Homeloans, we were just talking about it. Home must be in Kapolei area, make less than 140K, live there 10 yrs, and you only pay 97% of the loan. I think must be first time buyer.
