Does anyone know if Hueytown Middle School has air conditioning yet? 100° Temps this week is not acceptable for my child to sit in a classroom with no air...

Response from Mrs. Poindexter: You are correct the air conditioning has been a concern in several classrooms and the gym is typically pretty hot. I know maintenance has been here the last couple of days trying to resolve the issues. In addition, I have seen teachers have class in different rooms to try to work through this situation. However, I don’t know the exact details of the plans to resolve these issues. I would suggest for you to contact Mr. Anders to provide you with more insight! I totally understand you and other parents concerns especially with students being able to learn in these least favorable conditions.\

I just left a message at Dr. Morris office of Jefferson county BOE. His secretary voicemail. I voiced my concerns about the air conditioning situation. Please do also. The number I called was 379-2010. Nothing will be done if we don't all voice our concerns.

Kenslee said she almost passed out in one class and the teacher finally turned on the air but it's really hot and they are not allowed to carry water with them and she overheats fast...we may have to call the board of education because I called Mr. Anders on another issue and after a week found out that he had done nothing to resolve it...1 email to a teacher and it was taken care of immediately!

Goodness. At Parent Night one of the teacher's said when she handed out textbooks that day she didn't realize a lot were hanging by a thread and were being held together with duct tape.
