Ok I have been suffering from Chronic Migraines since I was 8 years old....I actually went to Dr Louis Rice for a while and he was able to help my migraines decrease substantially. I also did acupuncture for a bit. Unfortunately I suffer from TBI and after all that work my migraines have come back in full force along with Occipital Nuerolgia ..... So now I receive pain block injections, and I am prescribed a nose spray called Imitrex for my migraines I also just was approved for Botox. Headaches are the worst!!!! I am so sorry you have to deal with that pain...I hope you find some relief

Kristen and Jules, have you tried chiropractic, as well? Or had a chiropractor work on your TMJ (jaw joint)? Migraines can stem from misalignment of the bones in the neck and jaw, which also pull on those surrounding muscles, and a chiropractor, such as myself, can work on those joints and muscles. If you want some referrals, let me know. I have some patients who get regular work done by me on their jaws and neck for headache relief. Contact me on my FB page, or check out my website at www.Fitnesschiropractor.com for contact information.
Avani P. replied:
Yes, Scott Mulleary has a good point that levels for staying hydrated is different for everyone, but important in managing headaches - I'll have to check out that book. I will get pretty bad headaches if I am not hydrated enough in very hot weather and have been outdoors exercising in the heat - even if I think I have had enough water! Usually, getting more water into my body for the next 24 hours after a headache starts helps make it go awa, and stay away. It's been a while since I have seen/spoken to Louis Rice, but I trust his judgement on this topic, too Hopefully I'll see him around town soon. Glad to see us chiropractors supporting each other's ideas rather than competing with each other.

Chiropractic adjustments might be a GREAT option, as Dr. Patel stated. If the underlying cause of the migraines is related to pinched or irritated nerves in the neck, correcting the structural abnormality is KEY if you're looking for a permanent solution. Good luck, migraines are no fun!
