Anyone know an honest shop for front end alignment? I do most of my own basic mechanic work but alignment is one thing I need a shop to do. Anyone know a shop who might...

DO NOT take your vehicle to Richline. Dishonest and it looked like they played who gives a shit where the weights go on the inside of the wheel. Firestone gives a print out before they'll do any work. I learned the hard way trying to save a couple bucks.

If you plan on keeping the vehicle for awhile go with the Firestone Lifetime Alignment. It's like $160? They do always find something to try and upsell you on but you just tell them no and they don't push it. And to be completely honest everything they have suggested to me did actually need to be fixed/replaced.

I’ve been going to kc complete auto service on Troost and they’re pretty up front about stuff, never have I gotten a do this or face explosions kinda thing. If they see something they’ll say what and why and answer questions but never a push on something unrelated.
ZiggyInKC replied:
KC AutoWorx down on Southwest Blvd. I can't praise these guys enough. If you're a DIYer and can fix your own car, just tell them, and they'll get it up on their alignment rack, do the alignment and tell you they're done. If they see something, they will let you know, but the service manager Brett isn't going to stand there and sell you a bunch of crap unless you need it.

I’ve always like Cortez Auto down by Grandview. He’s a little hard to get a hold of but quality work for reasonable prices.

I can't say if they'll be honest about your alignment, but Christian Brothers did right by me after two other mechanics tried to do me dirty when my car broke down. If you can't find a better option it might not hurt trying them

Meineke did mine when everyone else kept giving me a hassle. I got it done at the OP location and it was affordable and fast.
woven_nebula replied:
steer clear of calverts! i just used them because i thought i was in a crunch to get my car inspected to get new tags, but they lied to me about even needing the inspection in the first place (couldn’t get ahold of anyone at the dmv,) the mechanic threw a fit when i asked him to explain what work he did do and how what he chose not to do would affect my car in the long run, and my car just feels so much worse now.

I've always been very pleased with the work that Oade's Brothers Tire and Auto in downtown Overland Park has done on my cars. I had them install new tires and do an alignment on my 2015 Mazda 6 and it's the straightest alignment I've ever had. They're highly rated on Google, too.

If you're adventurous enough to do your own work, alignments aren't magic nor do they require a lot in the way of specialized tools (but those sure do make it easier).
If you have a tape measure (or two, maybe), a straightedge, a jack and stands for when you are under the car making adjustments, and a decent grasp of rudimentary math you can do this too. I prefer this method: [https://jalopnik.com/how-to-do-your-own-alignment-with-some-angle-iron-and-t-1820555295](https://jalopnik.com/how-to-do-your-own-alignment-with-some-angle-iron-and-t-1820555295)
It was intimidating at first but it really isn't that difficult. I spend more time raising and lowering the car than making adjustments, which is where fancy tools like an alignment rack are nice.

Auto Tech Services Center LLC. 11441 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Shawnee, KS 66203 I'm a former mechanic and huge DIYer, they are the only ones I've trusted to do my alignments for the past several years on multiple vehicles. If I recall they charge about $90, but they do a great job and would even do custom alignment specs like when I was setting up a track car.

Does anyone know a good, cheap, honest mechanic ???
Melinda D. replied:
I don't know how cheap they are, but I know Christian Brothers on 40 highway is honest. My parents use them and just last week my dad took his car in to see about an issue that would have cost over $1000 and they told him the issue was actually a small one that was less than $300 to fix-even knowing he was expecting to pay over $1000. And I know another time he went to have a diagnostic recently, it was only $35.
