Any suggestions on finding a nanny? I have 7 month old twins and have no luck finding affordable day care. What do most people pay for daycare and/or a nanny? Any...

I found a girl out of high school who said she wanted to go into nannying and trained her on how I wanted the twins taken care of (also we learned together) she had tons of babysitting experience which was the reason I was ok with her not having nannying or multiples experience and it was more adorable that way. Care.com people always want more than you can afford because the website tells them to ask for lots based on "what's being paid in your area" but we live in a tiny podunk town there most people don't make much for I know they aren't paying $15/hr for a sitter!!

NannyPoppinz.com is a great agency. It should be like $15 an hour for two kids not sure if it's more nowadays .. I was a nanny for this company many moons ago and took care of two girls for $15 an hour.

Care.com is our home run, but also asking around because you never know what student might be looking for something after school or woman looking for something now that her kids are older, etc.!

I found my nanny on sittercity.com and we pay her $12/hour for our twins. We are in Kansas as well.

I found my nanny on care.com. I posted the job and exactly what I was looking for and how much I was willing to pay and found a girl to come to my house for that rate. Lots of people responded and I sifted through til I found the perfect one!
In search of an experienced nanny or nanny agency for our toddler and newborn. We've already tried care.com. Any recommendations greatly appreciated!
Becky K. replied:
Hm? Not to be nosey? But why did you not like care.com? I've been told by some people to try their services. Thanks
Melanie F. replied:
We hired our first nanny through care.com and had her for a little over a year before she decided to go back to school, but have since had difficulty finding someone long term that's more of a career nanny rather than a recent college grad that may not be fully committed. It's not that we didn't like Care but just know that it's best to conduct phone interviews before wasting time in person, some information on profiles can be very misleading, check references & background checks, and the really good candidates get scooped up really quickly!

Hate care.com. Had the worst luck with it. Word of mouth is always good.

Try care.com or one of the college websites for a student in Education or Early Childhood Education who is looking for a job. Does she qualify for Child Care Assistance to get any help with the cost of child care? Or try Parent Aware MN's website for private childcare providers or centers.
Melissa G. replied:
Check out www.mnchildcare.org - they have listings of all licensed child care providers in the state.
