I recently heard this story on NPR about a college that caters to single moms and has a daycare center in the dorm they live in with evening hours. My alma mater offers a daycare to students and faculty, and students can still have daycare over breaks if they give advance notice. They also do a sliding scale pay rate, and the waiting list is separate for students and faculty. It's in the child development center, not the library, though it's only a short walk. http://childdevelopment.appstate.edu/pagesmith/6

University of Dayton has (Erma) Bombeck Family Learning Center. Wright State University has a Mini-University. Both are next to their respective campus, but not in the campus library.

It doesn't have to be hard! I teach in an elementary school with a few pre-kindergarten classes that I see just for storytime. We do our library song, read a story, sing a song, read another story, and then have a closing activity. I see them for about 20 minutes.
