We go to Coralville Animal Hospital. They were wonderful with my elderly cat until the end of his life and have been seeing our three young cats and my dog for 3 years. They were so compassionate when we lost our cat. Seriously great. And bright eyes and bushy tails saved my dog when we had an emergency and his therapy for walking again was through them. They are not a regular vet, but amazing during an emergency.
Jeff R. replied:
I suggest Tipton Vet Services. It is extremely affordable and fast. I got my dog in for a checkup and his 3 shots and got out the door for $69.00. Incredibly affordable, and great service. well worth the drive.

I have done well with both Gentle Hearts vet clinic on Highway 1 and with the Veterinary Associates - either Towncrest or 3 rd st. Really good with cats, they listen to me, and they have good and inexpensive solutions to our issues.
Lynn E. replied:
Are you looking to get them spayed or neutered? If so, a great option is the IHA - Iowa Humane Association. You can apply for aid from the JCHS to cover most or all of the cost, and even if you pay the whole thing, it's about $40 per animal. http://iowahumanealliance.org/

I am good friends with the doctor at Tender Care on the coralville strip, she is great and they have very friendly knowledgeable techs there too
GotTheBloodlustPerry replied:
We go to the cat clinic and really like it- it doesn't seem that 'clinical'- the lobby looks like a living room, and the vet and techs are really nice. We have one cat who's cool with literally everything, and one that becomes a monster when taken out of her comfort zone (for her last rabies shot the vet needed an assistant to help hold two towels over her to hold her in her carrier, and both of them still ended up bleeding), but they were really great and understanding about it. They also do cat boarding, so it's not uncommon to be sitting in the waiting area and have a cat come say hello.
SheetcakeOfVictory replied:
I have 3 cats, and I use the West Branch Animal Clinic. It's a bit of a drive from the IC/CV area, but the cost of checkups/shots/etc. is probably 1/3 what you pay at vets in town.
AndrewAcropora replied:
Dr Gene at Coralville animal clinic works with my cat. He is a coworker's spouse (Dr Irish from Biology) and I think he does a really great job too. Highly recommended.
yellingoneandzero replied:
I see Dr. Nyren at [Veterinary Associates](http://www.iowacityvet.com/index.VA.html), who has done a great job for my three kits. He has a good bedside manner, and seems to know what he's doing quite well.
maanp replied:
I actually wouldn't recommend the Cat Clinic myself. Pushing prescription foods for every issue that came up (permanently mind you) was annoying but tolerable. Without giving away too many specifics, what drove us away was some really bad advice and treatment that would have seriously affected the life of one of our cats had we not sought out a second opinion. Turns out we weren't crazy for thinking their approach was extreme and unnecessary and the solution was actually simple. So yeah, even though they were really nice, I will never go back and can't suggest anyone else take that chance either.
geekfuel replied:
We started taking our cat to the cat clinic because we live across the street. Awesome place! Plus for simple vaccinations you can get them at Theisens and give them yourself. Not injections, they are by mouth or some thru nose.

Anyone telling you to go to a vet in Iowa City, Coralville, or North Liberty is wrong. Dr. Beyer at West Branch Animal Clinic in West Branch, IA (about 20 mins east of IC) is who you want to go to. He is simply the best and MUCH MUCH MUCH more affordable than any vets in town.
